Interim Health and Safety Managers Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Wakefield and surrounds

This service typically provides health and safety cover for maternity leave, long term sickness or to fulfil temporary expertise shortcomings, where someone is being trained or recruited. Although you may have a shortfall in health and safety expertise for a period you still have to take reasonable steps to prevent accidents or harm to your employees and anyone who could be affected by you carrying out your work. Whether this is just a few hours, to 5 days a week, our interim health and safety consultants are there to help. They have years of experience in industry and have membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health or the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.

In addition to the routine tasks required every day to keep the workforce and public protected from harm, our health and safety interim managers can provide some or all of the following services, depending on what is appropriate for the business.  

Risk Assessment
Ensure that appropriate Risk Assessments are documented and communicated out to relevant employees through guidance and training of Co H&S Officer or appropriate supervisors or by direct completion on your behalf. These are then updated on an ongoing or frequency basis as appropriate.
Fire precautions Management and Emergency Evacuation Ensure suitable and sufficient Fire Risk Assessment and appropriate measures and plans are in place. To include evacuation plan, training, practice and records.
Strategic H&S Provide guidance and recommendations to the Board on how the Company can best meet its and their H&S obligations. 
Coaching, Mentoring and Training Meeting with team leaders, supervisors and managers to identify issues they have responsibility for, discussing these and developing strategies to handle them. Running tool box talks and training workshops to improve competence and to meet employers obligation to provide information and training to employees about H&S and the Risks they are exposed to. 
Accident investigation and management Advising and carrying out accident investigations as appropriate. Completing RIDDOR forms and submitting reports. Tracking accident records, identifying unacceptable trends and determining appropriate Company responses. 
Enforcement authorities and 3rd parties Providing point of contract for the Company with enforcing authorities and other interested 3rd parties (eg HSE, Fire Service, EL Insurers), dealing with visits and responses to correspondence. Advising the organisation on any matters arising. 
Policy and Procedure Audits Reviewing Company policies and procedures ensuring they are up to date and fit for purpose. Identify gaps and develop and implement new policies and procedures as required. Provide training on policies and procedures for staff within the organisation. 
Safe Systems of Work Assist relevant internal staff or create from fresh appropriate documented Safe Systems of Work. 
Health & Safety Induction Ensure that suitable H&S Induction processes exist including conducting Induction sessions with new starters. 
H&S Records Reviewing Company H&S administration procedures, auditing of statutory records (e.g. plant inspections, health surveillance) and ensuring regimes and practices are in line with current legislation and that appropriate records are present. 
Health & Safety Legislation Advising the organisation of changes (or proposed changes) in Health & Safety legislation and actions required to ensure H&S policies procedures and practices are up to date and fit for purpose, running short workshops/seminars on relevant topics. 

Our health and safety consultants can provide you with a comprehensive suite of services to support you with all your health and safety risk management demands. We will continue auditing the health and safety management systems you already have in place, or where these are absent, will design one for you, ensuring that you meet the highest standards and are legally compliant.

We take care of day to day health and safety advice at the same time as providing you with the competent person service - which is a statutory requirement. Where our consultants identify a health and safety risk, they will produce a plan to address it. We provide ongoing support to maintain and update your health and safety management systems and to make sure that you stay compliant in the eyes of the law. Our consultants can also offer training to members of your team to ensure continued improvement.

Our interim health and safety contracts are extremely flexible. Our consultants will work for just a few hours over a few weeks, or full time on site, sometimes for up to one year. We work in whichever way you feel is best.
