Legionella Awareness and Control

Designed for

Employees and managers with direct responsibility for identifying and implementing appropriate control measures to minimise the likelihood of an outbreak of Legionellosis arising from their organisation’s water systems and activities carried out.


To equip delegates with sufficient information, knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding control of legionella bacteria such that they feel capable and confident of carrying out their duties and to keep the risk from legionella to an absolute minimum. It also greatly assists site personnel to minimise costs of compliance.


This course includes both sessions of information delivery and simulated practical exercises including risk assessment theory and temperature monitoring.

9:00-9:15 Arrival and registration

9:30 Morning session

  • Introduction, history of legionella
  • Legislation, compliance
  • Understanding HSE, EHO investigations & impact of an outbreak
  • Risk Assessment
  • Microbiology and water sampling

12:30 – 13:00 Lunch

13:30 Afternoon session

  • Understanding water systems
  • Applied learning assessment
  • Practical water temperature monitoring
  • Auditing
  • Useful resources, websites & organisations

Approximately 4-15 – 4:30pm course end


On completion delegates will receive course notes and certificate of attendance
