How do our interim HR managers help?

The amount of input is set by you. The following areas are typical of the activity that the interim HR manager service explores. For some clients we provide just one or a few of the types of assistance shown below. For others we help with pretty much all of it. You decide how much or little you need and in what areas.

Strategic HR - Providing input, help and guidance into organisational matters such as mergers, re-organisations, secondment issues, application of TUPE or Impact of Funding conditions. 

Employment Legislation - Advising the organisation of changes (or proposed changes) in employment legislation and actions required to ensure all of your HR policies procedures and practices are up to date and fit for purpose, running short workshops/seminars on relevant topics. Changes expected in 2010/2011 and beyond include changes to the retirement age, sharing of parental/maternity benefits and pension provision.

Recruitment and Selection - We will review recruitment and selection procedures and identify best practice to ensure that excellent staff are recruited into the organisation. For example: we will create job specifications, job profiles, adverts, equal opportunity monitoring procedures and be fully involved in the recruitment selection and interview process.

Handling Disputes (Discipline and Grievance) - We advise managers on conducting disciplinary and grievance matters with employees. This may include carrying out investigations or sitting in on or chairing meetings on your behalf. We ensure that any accusations involving Equal Opportunities/Discrimination/Harassment are effectively managed.

Coaching and Mentoring - We hold regular meetings with managers to identify issues they have, then discuss them and develop strategies to handle them. We can also run small scale seminars for a number of employees on relevant HR themes as part of this service.

Absence Management  -  Our interim HR managers assist your supervisors and managers to identify absence issues within their team. We ensure that relevant facts are collated and establish appropriate strategies for handling short term and long term absence.

Terms and Conditions of Service - This aspect of the service looks at terms and conditions of employment to ensure that they provide good control and are easy to manage. We then compile relevant supporting documents or agreements.

Policy and Procedure - We will carry out audits to review Company policies and procedures ensuring they are up to date and fit for purpose. Our interim HR manager will also identify gaps and develop and implement new policies and procedures as required. In addition they will provide training on policies and procedures for staff within the organisation.

Performance Management - Our interim HR managers review current performance management procedures and identify areas for improvement. They will also coach staff in managing performance issues with their staff to improve performance.  

HR Administration - This involves reviewing company HR administration procedures, auditing staff personal files and ensuring procedures and practices are in line with current legislation and best practice.
