NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGE AND STATUTORY RATES

Generally, the Government follow the recommendations of the Low Pay Commission (LPC), and has again done so but with one significant exception.  The Apprentice National Minimum Wage is to go up by 57p an hour and not the recommended 7p per hour.

The Government describes the above changes as the largest real-terms increase in the National Minimum Wage since 2007, and more than 1.4 million of Britain’s lowest-paid workers are set to benefit.  Anyone would think there was an election looming?  (Or are we being cynical?)

Statutory Rate Changes

Also announced are annual increases in compensation limits, guarantee pay and the maximum week’s pay for the purposes of calculating statutory redundancy pay.

These apply where the dismissal (or detriment, or whatever it is that is being complained about) takes place on or after 6th April 2015.
